The Qualification
This training programme will prepare you for a career in the sport and active leisure industry as a fitness instructor – teaching gym-based exercise.  Throughout this programme you will develop an understanding of anatomy, physiology, the principles of exercise, fitness and health, and relevant health, safety and welfare in the fitness environment.  You will develop the knowledge and skills needed to plan and instruct a gym-based exercise programme for healthy adults of all ages.  You will also learn how to effectively support clients who take part in exercise and physical activity.

This qualification is endorsed by the Register of Exercise Professionals (UK).  REPs UK is the largest register for exercise professionals in the world with over 30,000 members.  Through ICREPs, REPs UK is aligned with all national professional registers across Europe, New Zealand and Australia. This qualification is also mapped to the Qualifications & Credit Framework (UK) and aligned to the National Framework of Qualifications (NFQ) Ireland at Level 4.

Qualifications Awarded
National Certificate in Gym Instruction (NSC)
Certificate in Fitness Instruction – Gym Based Exercise (VTCT)

VTCT qualifications are aligned to the National Framework of Qualifications (QQI Ireland) at level 4, accredited by REPs UK, recognised in Europe (EREPs) and in Australia/New Zealand through ICREPS.  NSC qualifications allow graduates to operate as professional gym instructors and are recognised by industry insurance bodies.  Professional indemnity insurance can be obtained by NSC graduates at a cost of approx. €140.

Previous Qualifications Required: Leaving certificate or equivalent.  Mature applicants (over 23) without a leaving cert can also apply.  Applicants must be computer literate as course notes are provided online and participants are required to submit project work via email.

Course Fee
From €1,000
Course fee includes registration and course notes.  Examination fees of €150 are due in the final month of training.  Your have the option of paying your course fee by direct debit.

Standard Payment (New Entrant) – €1,100 standard fee or €1,000 (early bird offer)
Course fee can be paid over 3 installments.  If the course fee is paid in full prior to the course start date, a discount of €100 will be given (early bird offer).  Examination fees of €150 must be paid in full prior to final assessments.

Money Back Promise!  NSC will refund any course payments right up to your first day of training, no questions asked!  We take the worry out of making the decision to do a course.  If you sign up to any of our training programmes and then decide not to go ahead, we will refund all of your deposit.  This money back promise expires on the first day of your training course.

3 Courses starting in Athy, Co. Kildare April 2017; Course 1: Weekend Course (2 weekends per month), Course 2: Weekday Course (every Wednesday), Course 3: Evening Course (every Wednesday).
2 Courses starting in Dublin April 2017; Course 1: Weekday Course (every Thursday), Course 2: Evening Course (every Thursday).
2 Courses starting in Athlone, Co. Westmeath; Course 1: Weekday Course (every Monday), Course 2: Evening Course (every Monday).
